The Lamborghini Islero was produced between 1968 and 1969 as the successor to the 400 GT, representing Lamborghini’s vision of a refined yet powerful grand tourer. Designed and built by Carrozzeria Marazzi (formed by former Touring employees), the Islero featured understated, elegant styling compared to its more flamboyant Lamborghini siblings, while retaining the brand’s hallmark 3.9-liter V12 engine.

Two main versions were produced:

  • Islero (1968): The original model produced 325 hp, offering strong performance with a top speed of around 155 mph (250 km/h). It featured a clean, simple interior and modest exterior detailing. Only 125 units were made.
  • Islero S (1969): The updated version delivered 350 hp, improved suspension, larger brakes, and minor styling tweaks such as flared wheel arches, a wider hood scoop, and revised lights. The interior was more luxurious, with upgraded materials and instruments. Just 100 examples were built.

Though overshadowed by flashier Lamborghinis, the Islero is admired today for its subtle design, rarity, and classic V12 character—offering a glimpse of Lamborghini’s early pursuit of both performance and elegance.
