The Lamborghini Silhouette was produced from 1976 to 1979 and marked a bold step for Lamborghini as its first open-top production car. Based on the earlier Urraco platform, the Silhouette was redesigned by Bertone, featuring sharp, angular lines that previewed the styling of the later Jalpa. Its most distinctive feature was the targa-style removable roof panel, giving drivers an open-air experience while maintaining structural rigidity.
Powered by a 3.0-liter V8 engine producing around 260 horsepower, the Silhouette delivered strong performance with improved handling over the Urraco, thanks to wider tires and a revised suspension setup.
Despite its appeal, the Silhouette faced difficult market conditions and financial struggles at Lamborghini during the late 1970s, leading to very limited production—only about 54 units were built.
Today, the Silhouette is a rare and significant model in Lamborghini’s history, bridging the gap between the Urraco and the Jalpa, and showcasing the brand’s evolving design and engineering direction during a challenging era.
